Hello! If you are reading this then you are looking at some of the board members here at Black Rose Theatre. We welcome you and hope you get to come to the productions that have been thoughtfully picked out. We try to do something for all age groups to see and participate in. Of course if you're looking for something to do, we can always put you to work!

I'm Donna Lewis, the current president of BRT (that just means that everyone looks at you and asks…”what are you going to do about this??” ) I was born in Mulberry, Arkansas, population 992, September 11, 1952, Moved all over Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana and landed in Brandon, Mississippi when I entered the 7th grade. I graduated from Brandon High School in 1970. I did some drama and a play or two there. I enjoyed entertaining but it went dormant for years until Lydie Vick, who directs many plays at BRT said "You need to audition for "Hello Dolly"! That was in 2004 and they've not been able to kick me out yet!!!!!!

Since "Hello Dolly", at Black Rose, I've been in "The Creature Creeps", "The Renfrows, Lulubell's Christmas Angel", "Father of the Bride, "The Developer", and “Once Upon a Mattress.” At Primrose Path, I've done, "Smoke on the Mountain" and stage managed “Pump Boys and Dinettes. As a fundraiser for Susan G. Komen, I was part of a group, mostly from Black Rose doing, A Country Kinda Christmas”, written by Lydie Vick.

I like to really get into my characters by changing wigs if needed to intensify my character. Probably comedy is my favorite thing to do. I like to go to the theater and see productions that make me come out laughing and feeling great! Now, it’s not that I don't enjoy drama and musicals. I like all types of entertainment........as long as it is in good taste!

Since theatre doesn't pay anything except serve as some type of therapy, my full time job is a Ministry Assistant at First Baptist Church in Jackson. I’ve been there for 17 years.

So, come join the fun and be a part of Black Rose Theatre!
